Katrina Alef Thorstensen

Katrina Alef Thorstensen

A native Californian transplanted to New England, Katrina Thorstensen brings an awareness of place and an artist’s eye for color and light to her paintings.

“I have always been an artist.  Drawing and painting were my refuge and outlet growing up, and art has always been a part of my life.  I was drawn to pastels because of the intensity of colors and immediacy of application.  A sense of place has always been important to me, and I think I am not alone in this.  The places in my paintings resonate for me in some way.  Using the medium of pastel and working with color and light, I hope to convey that feeling of these places to the viewer.”

Katrina lives in Norwich,Vermont with her husband and daughter.
She is represented by the Woodstock Gallery, in Woodstock, VT.
